A professional furniture craftsman and owner of Joy in Wood Furniture Makers since 1979, Rich creates fine heirloom quality furniture from rough lumber in a wide range of styles.

Always active in community service, Rich is President and Founding Director of Amazing Earthfest, a nonprofit organization producing an annual educational, arts and outdoor adventure festival celebrating National and State Parks, Forests, Monuments and Public Lands of the American West. He served on the Kanab City Beautification Board for 10 years and, for 9 years, was a member of the Board of Directors for Grand Staircase Escalante Partners, friends group for the National Monument.

In his newest venture, Rich is founding President of the nonprofit Stellar Vista Observatory, based in Kanab, an organization dedicated to the creation and operation of a public, educational, astronomical observatory in Kane County, Utah.

In 2007, Rich and his wife Debra relocated to Kanab to maintain an active outdoor lifestyle, discover and enjoy America’s public lands and contribute to the evolving culture of southern Utah.

In addition to her talent in upholstery, Debra earned a BF in Fine Art from the University of Southern Maine and currently creates landscape paintings in oils for sale. Together, Debra and Rich continue to pursue the time honored traditions of fine furniture making and antique upholstery. We hope to serve you soon!
